  1. Well how about that! Day one, our first 25 man raid as a new combined, new Tyranny and what happens? One hard mode down (Halfus) in 2 attempts, six bosses dead, and another hard mode boss down to 60% in two attempts (which we'll work on tonight!). Like a one-hour escort service, we're wasting no time to get down and dirty! Oh and we just hit Guild Level 20 today! How's that for the start of a historic week for our four year old guild? I can't wait to see what we can do with the remaining hard modes and Nefarian this week! We are recruiting Resto Shaman! Briss (Jship) needs a compadre! Apply Now!
  2. Nytsua carries so hard, everyone is trying to be like him. Briss, Sollar, Phearun... even the pope!. We'll have a video of him saving Eref not once, but twice, in the next day or so. Seriously though, Vlaid, Nyt and Eref were pretty clutch on Wind Platform, and were a big reason things went swimmingly. Not to be out-done were our Rogue-turned-Boomkin Foker, Briss who dived head first into a tough healing fight after a couple weeks of filling in as Ele while i recovered, Sollar who had to run into stun with Phearun at great personal risk! Great job everyone, sticking out this irritating little encounter. Big team effort! Extremely clean kill. Here's hoping we best our previous 11% attempt on Omnitron before the reset and go into 25s with 6 hard modes down. SO next week we restart our 25 man raid, with many familiar faces, but also many fresh ones. Things are looking great. We have a stacked roste and we're all very excited to see what our new guild can do! It'll take a couple of weeks, probably, to get up to speed on all five our our downed hard modes on 25 man, but we're gonna be back in the progression scramble before too long! We're still recruiting, so apply! P.S. I just noticed the front page has two Catholic Church references and two Star Wars references. Here's one more:
  3. You can't keep good raiders down. The itch to progress has done us in. The time has come! In anticipation of Tier 12 content, and after a nice break in the 10 man, Tyranny is proud to announce we're reactivating the 25-man effective as of 3/29/11! Past and Present Members of Tyranny, more details here. We'd love your future involvement! A lot of old faces are coming back to contribute and work with the new blood that will make the cause of this guild to flourish once again. Interested parties, we're also recruiting pretty much everything except tanks at the present to facilitate this exciting expansion of our operations here. Consider it open recruitment We were the best guild ever seen on two servers across years. That is what we shall be again in short order on the back of a lot of hard work and everything that made Tyranny special. Here's to the next 3 years!
  4. Through subterfuge, backroom deals with the boss, and four AoErs pulling above 25k DPS, we are now 4/12, and our 3rd hard mode in four days!. Well actually, Vlaid did 50k, cuz my DPS counts as his he says.
  5. Purple! Green! Out! In! Move! And Back! Faster! Hit it! Everything we learned about syncronizing calls, we learned from choir nuns. Atramedes down, like 45 seconds ahead of the DPS curve with a melee-heavy group at that. Fun fight! Next up, Maloriak!
  6. This actually happened, but we won first attempt. Great job Team Tyranny! Some heartbreaking wipes before the weekend (seriously... seconds worth of health left). Next up... Cut Man!
  7. We killed Heroic Shrek and his pet dragons. Not Donkey though. He's too tough for us.
  8. Live from Tyranny Square... thats Tyranny Square. Not Tah'ir. Sheesh. Like most of the rest of the world, it's been a pretty crazy 3 weeks here and Tyranny . We've undergone some recent changes, some of the most significant in our history! A couple of weeks ago we shifted to 10-man progression raiding for the remainder of Tier 11, and much to our pleasant surprise, it's just as, if not even more challenging. We intend to go up to 25 again in Tier 12, but in the near term, we're going to solve our raiding itch in this manner. We hope by developing a exceptionally tight core in the 10 man, it'll put us in a strong competitive position to build around that for the next raiding tier. But as it is was, a lot of retirements, and a severely melee-heavy roster in a ranged-friendly games just made perpetuation the old mode of play temporarily untenable. So this is where we are... and it's going good! Six raid nights in, we're already 12/12 with some serious work put in on Atramedes Hard Mode, with our immediate focus for probably the next month on him, Halfus, Chimaeron, Conclave and Maloriak hard modes. It's new. It's different. It's exciting! We're looking for a few more talented raiders to round out our roster. Many of our vets are still here, but some of our old core decided (those who aren't taking a break) decided to pitch their tent in some US top 20 guilds. And boy are we proud of them! But still, we have a few holes we need to plug, so if you're one of the classes / roles listed in the upper right of the page, please apply! More soon!
  9. We iterated through a bunch of strats / raid make-ups before we happened upon one that sufficiently raped our tanks to an acceptable degree. Needless to say, a little lube (Jack Daniels) would have made it go easier. Special shout out to Vlaid, Sufferings, Volk, Folde and Briss for strategery, all our healers for throughput healing like champs (what about that blizz), and Tirsten and Jingaa for their super pro interrupts, missing only 2 out of dozens all night! And once again, thanks to over half our melee for sitting out on another anti-melee fight. Seriously Blizz. :/ Also above in our featured film is our Nefarian kill video. It pretty much gives away the goods of the strat and is unique from most kill videos you'll find because it utilizes dual perspectives (kiter tank and kiter tank healer) that you wont normally see. We're very proud of it. It's in 720p. Next week will have a 1080p version. Enjoy!
  10. The last time I killed Nefarian for the first time, I used my wandthe first 25%. It was at least 9 months after this guild named Demolition (our direct predecessor) did it, and my old guild only got away with it because our Warrior tanks abused battle shout to build AoE threat. Also back then there were no "Blood Elf" Paladins, no misdirect, no Death Knights, no flying mounts or AHs anywhere except Orgrimmar and Stormwind. Lich King was "years away, probably at level 100" and Deathwing was certainly in Grim Batol. The year was 2006. Well here we are, the closing days of 2010, the most eventful year in Tyranny's long history. And after exactly 22 days since the start of Cataclysm we're now 12/12 in normal modes and US #23 after killing our old friend Nefarian. The common feeling? It was the most rewarding kill since Lich King 25 Heroic. This is a terrific fight that wonderfully tests the hardest aspects of tanking, DPS and healing as it is in the game now. It's really the complete package, and perfectly designed. Talking about it really doesn't do it justice. It is a surprisingly nuanced fight, and a good trainer for what's ahead. Everyone in the guild put serious time in on this fight. It was a complete guild effort, as a fight this comprehensive should be. We recorded this fight as well, and it will be posted in a few days. Our video will be fairly unique compared to those out there as it will be from Ari, the kiter's tank perspective. Extremely great job pushing so hard on this boss, and the previous 11 Tyranny! Tomorrow, we begin Hard Modes. Maybe there will be one more big win before 2010 expires. But personally, if the arc of 2010, starting with our ICC progression, peaking with our July 20th, midsummer kill of LK25 HM, and our massive end-of-the-year Cataclysm success is any indication, I can't wait to see what Tyranny does in 2011!
  11. It was the 3rd night before Christmas... and all through the guild... few goblins were stirring... indeed many of us had chilled. We had expected raid night to be, something of a wash.... but through focus and hard work.... on Al'Akir we put the kibosh! Once he was defeated, we ran to his body to find.... 3 epic pants of "the Whale"... and a letter Zergg signed! "You suckers", it began "what do you think you've done! .... it's 3 days before Christmas... these Whale-pants make this fun?" "We do it for pride!", the guild cried...." we're US 24th! ... pre-cata doubters we've long since defied!" 11/12 is what we have killed... a gift to ourselves ... and a Christmas goal fulfilled!
  12. As of today, we're 10/12 in 25-player Tier 11 Normal Mode content. We killed Cho'gall tonight in about an hour and change, thus completing Bastion of Twilight 25 Normal Mode and continuing our rapid, US Top 20 run through 25 man content. A few comp tweaks was really all that was needed to win this surprisingly fun fight. But Cho'gall was the bonus. The real meat of the night was finally killing Twilight Ascendants. Cataclysm is a great expac thus far. And even normal mode Tier 11 content is vastly superior entertainment wise to anything this game has put out since Ulduar (and maybe since Sunwell). Except this fight. It's Phase 2 mechanics are fun for about 30 minutes. Then all the "cool" and "fun" things start showing up. Like tornados on top of depressions. And a strat that involved acceptable sacrifices and group stacking we can do only because we planned for this contingency. Here's some quotes from clearing Tier 11 content so far: Atramedes: "So whose else is this their favorite fight in Cata yet?" Chimaeron: "That Phase 2 is retardedly fun." "Yeah it really is" Magmaw: "Wow that's a cool fight" Double Dragons: "HAHAH Wow..." Twilight Ascendants: "I felt like I've been kicked in the balls over and over and over" This dumb fight... cheap in an old NES game (think Battletoads) kinda way... not hard... sucked. It felt like getting molested with a rusty pipe. So we returned the favor to it's creator. 9 out of 10 fights being nothing but win is a pretty great record. But holy shit, if this game were played on Nintendo, I think the controllers would have gone flying!
  13. Few days late updating this (guild life is super busy at the moment!). So as of Sunday 12/12... we're 8/12 in Normal Tier 11 content. The last boss we killed that night was Chimaeron... amazing job healers! Here's our kill pic in Steroscopic 3D (get 3D glasses!). James Cameron eat your heart out. Just prior to that we killed Conclave of the Four winds with little difficulty. And just prior to that... the double dragons... pretty much by accident on like the 3rd attempt! And the first thing we killed that night... Halfus Lolbreaker, shown here with the FOURTH mob spawned during his encounter, that aptly describes how the fight goes. We have 2 more fights we're extremely close on... its an exciting time here. We're recruting Hunters very urgently so apply today!
  14. Yes I made a blind person joke. Best fight (IMO) in Cataclysm so far! We're now 4/12 and have 3 more fights on the dock we should down shortly!
  15. The most fun fight yet, IMO. The picture above explains a lot of our strat. Can you decipher it? US #7th kill of this, 13th overall. Video coming very soon! Great job everyone!
  16. Let's see... a phallic boss that lobs globs at people that spawns babies, and periodically covers half the room in white stuff. We get the joke Blizzard. We also have the solution. US 4th kill, US 7th overall!. Well done folks! Keep...errr... working hard! Video coming very soon.
  17. And to think... these golem's looked so fucking harmless in BRD. A little gear and some good attention to what's what, goes a long way. US 5th! At this point, most of us had slept less than 9 hours since Monday. Video coming very soon.
  18. So the level grind + days of chain heroics (we mean 30-50 people online, mid day on a Thursday, running 3-6 heroic groups) has completely removed many of our's attention from the real world into the far better run and less monotonous world of Azeroth, that when one of those rare moments we look out the window to see what the poor-dishevled 99.999% of the human race not playing Cataclysm is doing, it's shocking. After thinking about it though, I'm convinced... if the National Debt were a raid boss, it would be solved and have a strat posted online in a few days. Period! Oh yeah we killed some Brutallus like chump in Baradin Hold. First boss killed in Cataclysm. Too bad there's no burn! He isn't a ranked boss, but he's pretty fun. He'll cut you like Obama cut's taxes!
  19. Well getting to level 85 was both less grueling and more fun than 70-80! Tyranny had FIVE server firsts of their respective classes. Congrats to: Satiel - Shaman (overall server first 85) Kalistaa - Warlock (overall server first 85 too) Kimah - Death Knight Vlaid - Rogue Phoebus - Hunter I'm sure we did something terribly important in all those quests. Not sure what. Something about saving the world tree? And I guess Garrosh is being his usual saturday morning cartoon-character self? Whatever. I'm sure we'll find out wtf happened with our alts.
  20. After a long wait... 18 consecutive Heroic Lich King kills, stunt-achievements of all sorts and just trying to find stuff to do, we are ready for Cataclysm! The two weeks since 4.03a has hit has been nothing if not a descent into the realm of the weird as we anticipated the launch of the expac. First we decided to raid stormwind... to hilarious results. The King of Stormwind's 40k wirlwind and heroic leap were fun to discover! How can we forget, our last ICC25, 51 weeks since the launch of Patch 3.3! And now Foker's back! We go into Cataclysm prepared like never before. Our roster is stacked, focused and hungry for the new challenges and success we'll undoubtedly find. We've had months to prepare for the next couple months of raiding, and we're going to make a run like never before. Cya in Hyjal!
  21. I haven't made a front page I'm more proud of. Seriously.
  22. I think the picture pretty much speaks for itself. Thanks to Luke Skywalker Kimah for coming out of his Jedi training retirement to join in taking down the empire the fun with us. May the force be with you!
  23. So here it is! Tyranny is proud to announce Tauntspam.com! What is Tauntspam? It is meant to be a hub for high level tanking theory, strategies from tank PoV and discussion, moderated by two of our main tanks, Arij and Sufferings. They've put a lot of work into this with help from Zenira to create a home for tanks at a more advanced level of play than tankspot or the WoW Forums - entry level, it isn't. We've said many times that Tyranny's strats and tanks are ahead of the curve compared to most other guilds out. This is meant to be a resource where tanks of a similar mindset and skill level can interact and engage with Arij and Sufferings, and each other. It's only in it's infancy, but in the weeks and months ahead, and into Cataclysm especially, it is a place that will develop into a full-fleged sister site to our home here. So remember this: when in doubt... Tauntspam! Also on an unrelated but equally important note, congratulations to Tyranny on its 18th consecutive/total Lich King 25 Heroic kill. It's been a long road since July 20th.
  24. Anyone else find it somewhat funny that pretty much the last new thing we do in Wrath of the Lich King involves mass AoE? Anyway in our wrap up of this expansion, we finally got around to doing this fun achievement. And it's FUN! Ground breakingly difficult and in the big picture worthy of a front page? Nah not really, but in this long and tedious wait before Cataclysm, we do certainly try and keep ourselves busy! Thanks to Kimah and Vlaid for the ideas on the best way to do it. The next few weeks are going to get increasingly busy around here: We have a new, top secret website in development (not a new guild website) that's going to be huge. We Just finished filling out our media page with all our kill shots going back to Sunwell. Click on the media tab at the top! I especially want to highlight our ICC25 kill shot page, which is finally filled, featuring our US 72nd Lich King! The rest of the ICC videos will be posted soon...they're a bit old now, but a record of what we did this expac. We have our extensive internal Cataclysm preparations going full steam. Also, we're on the lookout for recruiting two positions on pretty short notice: Holy/ Disc Priest (with emphasis on Holy) and Holy Paladin. If you think you're up to snuff, click on the application button at the top (or click here! ) Lot's more in the next few days. Stay tuned!
  25. So we killed this 12 times before, but for anyone whose actually done ICC25 in 4.0.1, you know the loopy new normal has made this game weird. Shadow Priests, Warlocks and Mages are gods. Melee uses pillows. Invisible Shadow traps and slow loading Sword Rooms. Sindragosa's fun aura that crits? How about this, we had our RESTO DRUID Silverbranch dispelling the enrage on Shambling horrors in phase 1. It's great fun. Anyway, a lot of guilds... great guilds... are getting roflstomped on Lich King. We decisively nailed it for kill number 13 in a couple of hours. Great job everyone going with the weird changes out there. Funniest moment of the week: the Shaman's new Earthquake being used around the same time as defile on Wednesday. I'm an idiot and forgot to parse it, but here is our evidence of killing it. Good luck guessing our healing comp. Oh and we used two Warrior tanks for all you D&R forum folks who haven't killed it yet who are saying "Feral Druid or GTFO".
